Local for All by The Cupcake Girls ~ #dtlv

This morning I attended the official groundbreaking for @localforall, a project by the @cupcakegirlsorg, on their new building in the Arts District of downtown Las Vegas!

The Cupcake Girls provide support and assistance referrals for sex workers, adult entertainers and victims of sex trafficking. They do so with no agenda, no judgment, and no fees to their clients. The Cupcake Girls provide some in-house services as well as referrals to external care providers. Case management and after care complete the circle of assistance provided.

Joining the ceremony was Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe Moreno, a member from the office of Congresswoman Dina Titus, and many other community leaders to officially welcome the organization to Downtown Las Vegas.

Board Member Tony Leitera, Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, Cupcake Girls Founder & CEO Joy Hoover were joined by other community leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking for Local for All.

Local For All, a project by The Cupcake Girls, will become a holistic resource center and social enterprise in the Arts District of Las Vegas. This space will house The Cupcake Girls’ offices, community partners, in-house resources, and support, including legal services, medical assistance, counseling, tattoo removal, job training and more.

The 7,500 sq foot building will also house the first Social Enterprise food hall with a bakery, soup & salad bar, coffee shop, taco shop and much more, the rents from which will help continue to fund The Cupcake Girls.

The Cupcake Girls is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a staff of 10+, over 150 volunteers, and 300 community partners who provide holistic, medical, dental, legal, financial services and more to their clients.

The groundbreaking ceremony was on the roof the building located at 110 E. Charleston Blvd. directly across from the Arts Factory. The roof will be home to some gardens as well as social space and a place for yoga.

The Cupcake Girls have a full website http://www.thecupcakegirls.org that provides information about who they are, what they do, and how people can get involved or support them.

I met Joy Hoover in September 2019 and I was so honored to assist in the “Bowl for Justice” fundraiser which kicked off just a week after we had met. I received incredible support from friends and the community in raising over $2000 for the Cupcake Girls.

I am inspired by the incredible energy of Joy Hoover, her burning desire to help her clients, and her passion and tenacity in making this organization successful.
